My Classroom Visits / Workshopsinclude very interactive conversation and activities where we explore some creative thinking; I read brief selections from my books, have some discussion about the animal/human connection, describe some quantum mechanics for kids, and talk about being an author and an artist professionally.
Each visit can be tailored to the individual class group according to the time constraints the class might have. A 40-45 minute session usually includes what is described above but can be expanded to include some art, writing, game playing and other creative activities with the addition of another 15-30 minutes. My extensive experience as a teacher has taught me that the children themselves guide the speed and depth at which the content is delivered!
The Visits/Workshops are generally appropriate for grades 3 – 6 but can be tailored to appeal to other primary or middle school groups. The Visits/Workshops are designed to be enjoyed with a maximum of 30 students in each group and ideal at 12-24 students.
